USA Cycling 24-Hour Mountain Bike National Championships

A purple glow from the nearby city of Gallup illuminates the sky as racers come in from the rain during the USA Cycling 24-Hour Mountain Bike National Championships/ 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest. In a state that is currently listed as the most drought stricken in the country, it's hard to complain about rain, so the moisture came in the guise of a blessing and a curse. As the evening wore on, the trails became too muddy to ride, temperatures were dropping fast and the race was paused at 10:30pm. The race was eventually restarted by 6:30am, but not before wreaking havoc on many racers drive trains as well as race strategy.
